There is a growing trend towards illustrated wedding invites, wedding crests and monogramming which I love and have been obsessed with for quite some time. My pinterest page is full of them! I really like the fact that if you choose to go for illustrated invites & stationary you are commissioning your very own bespoke piece of art which you get to keep & frame forever.
Here are my favourite four illustrators who's creations are something really quite special...
As I mentioned before I was extremely lucky to have my wedding invites designed by the very clever and superbly talented Susannah Garrod. She mostly does fashion commissions for the likes of Jo Malone, Vogue & Sophie Dahl but takes on a couple of wedding projects a year. She also offers live illustrations capturing special moments which can be turned into beautiful favours for guests.
I will let some examples of her illustrations below do the talking. Simply dreamy!
The beautiful stationary and illustrations Susannah created for my wedding day which I still completely love....
I first came across Polly Crossman whilst reading 'The Dolly Mail' by Dolly Alderton who is my latest girl crush and a talented, witty and hilarious journalist. (If you haven't already signed up to her weekly Dolly Mail then you must do so immediately, I look forward to it arriving every Wednesday!) Polly creates the beautiful illustrations which adorn Dolly's weekly emails and they are reason enough to sign up.
I was curious and wanted to know more about Polly and her beautiful illustrations. After taking a look at her website www.pollycrossman.com I immediately fell in love with everything. I got in touch with her and she told me a little bit more about what she does and specifically her bespoke wedding stationary....
'' I am a strong believer that every wedding should be completely personal to each couple from start to finish - and that goes for every element of the stationery too. The stationary that I create is all bespoke and made to order; I work closely with each couple to understand their big day and come up with designs that are unique and have a memorable, personal touch.
I love hearing peoples stories, drawing out elements that make a wedding so unique and getting to know people - and of course, seeing peoples reactions when a blank piece of paper becomes a beautiful memento of a special day!
I create everything from save the dates and formal invitations to bespoke maps (so no one gets lost!) and illustrated ‘Particulars’ cards - turning all of the less exciting but important details into something very charming. Then there are drawings for orders of service, menu designs, table plans, place cards - and thank you cards when everything is over. And there’s always the chance to make the most of my handwriting with envelope calligraphy.
I love working in pen and ink, drawing in pencil, using watercolours and incorporating my handwriting into my work. I also love discovering new ways of doing things - I know that I’ve really only scratched the surface of possibilities so far and there is much more to come!''
Make sure you take a peak at Polly's website www.pollycrossman.com for many more gorgeous illustrations and information!
Lara is a freelance illustrator and designer who originally studied Fine Art at Central St Martins and takes on all manner of commissions from event invitations, maps and digital prints. She recently designed the dreamiest menu's & place names for a dinner Venyx World held at Sexy Fish restaurant and I am totally in love with them....
Lara's wedding stationary is equally as dreamy, I especially love the beautiful floral borders....
''I love it when a client comes to me with a concept, however vague or particular, that we can then develop and realise together. It is for this reason of creative flexibility that I’m conscious that my work is not defined by any one particular style, although my signature draughtsmanship is free-hand, using a combination of water-colour, pen, ink and pencil.''

I might think about getting married again just so I can commission Fin Fellowes. Fin, who is a freelance designer and illustrator, draws bespoke wedding crests, monograms and invites and they are all truly exceptional.
Regularly appearing in the pages of Vogue it is no wonder she is booked up into 2017. Everything is 100% bespoke and Wedding design packages start from £1,500.
